Costa Martianez
A ‘water park’ with a difference – Costa Martianez offers 8 swimming pools (including children’s pools) swim-up caves, waterfalls and an enormous water spring that fires jets into the air to a remarkable height. The park offers many amenities including bars, restaurants, ice cream stands and even a spa. The sea water in the park is nice and warm, and even rises and falls with the tide.
Mount Teide
Spain’s tallest peak is located in El Teide National Park and the summit offers some spectacular views. Many guided tours are available of the park and mountain. Cable cars take some of the legwork out but be sure to wear warm, sensible clothing and footwear if embarking on this remarkable journey.
Loro Parque (Parrot Park)
Tenerife’s largest theme park has been built and based entirely around parrots! Home to over 4,000 parrots in grounds that occupy 135,000 square metres, the park houses a zoo that is one of the world’s biggest. Here you’ll find an area devoted to penguins along with sea lions, dolphins, killer whales and many more in the aquarium. Back on dry land you can find chimpanzees, tigers, jaguars and more. No visit is complete without checking out the parrot and orca shows, which happen regularly and are completely engrossing.
Pyramides of Guimar
Outside of Guimar, six freestanding pyramids were constructed in the 19th century. What makes them particularly special is that they were built without mortar. Also take a look at the surrounding archaeological site and learn about its history by taking a guided tour or visiting the museum.
Masca
Masca, probably the most beautiful city on Tenerife, is difficult to reach but definitely worth visiting. It is situated on a rocky plateau in the Teno Mountains and promises breathtaking views on the surrounded landscape. Take a look inside the small church which provides space for only eight people and take a walk to the Bay of Masca and admire the stunning scenery with impressive rock formations.
