The biggest ever Runway Run at Aberdeen International Airport has raised thousands of pounds for children’s charities.
More than 300 runners were able to take on the 4km Runway Run lit up runway on Saturday night.
Once again, CHC Helicopters and Aberdeen International Airport partnered up to bring the run to the Dyce terminal for a fourth year.
Aberdeen International Airports chosen charities We Too! and Kayleigh’s Wee Stars will benefit from the run along with CHC Helicopters chosen charities, AberNecessities and Befriend a Child.
This year also saw the inclusion of new sponsors for the first time helping raise the profile and fundraising efforts.
More than £38,000 was raised at the event organised by CHC Helicopter Captain Ryan Broadhurst with the airport’s operations team.
He said: “I want to say a huge thank you to our sponsors who helped elevate the Runway Run this year.
“Every year our run team works incredibly hard to organise this event and it is always great to see the support we receive from participants.
“This was our biggest Runway Run yet and it didn’t disappoint.”
Sponsors this year included Ace Aviation, Bold St Media, Falck Fire Service, Hampton by Hilton, ABM, Signature Flight Support, Marriott International and NATs
Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport said: “Once again our teams have delivered an amazing event and I would like to thank them, volunteers and everyone at CHC Helicopters for their hard work.
“Congratulations to every runner who took part and have helped four local children’s charities.”
Sarah Misra, CEO of Befriend a Child said: “What a fantastic event, huge congratulations and thank you to all of the runners, supporters and of course the Runway Run Team.
“We are extremely grateful for the funds raised, which will ensure more local children and young people facing a challenging time in their life can be supported through befriending and mentoring.”
Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of AberNecessities said: "We are very excited to part of the Aberdeen Runway Run for the first time and would like to give a special thanks to CHC Helicopters for choosing to support AberNecessities. It is wonderful to be recognised for our work in what has been a challenging couple of years for so many local families.
“It is such a fantastically unique event, and we feel honoured to be there to see hundreds of runners light up the runway with energy and kindness; in turn, this phenomenal contribution will ensure we can light up a child’s entire day, month and year by providing them with items that no child should go without. Thank you to everyone involved, it means so very much."
